Same woods as used on mine. Our two basses are the only ones I've seen with a Kurogaki top.
+1. I also have an STR made by the same factory. The Bacchus feels too perfect for a handmade bass like it was cut from a CNC machine. Gotta admit that I love Elixir strings, and the Bacchus came stock with them.
Mine is passive but the output feels like an active bass. Just love the tone. Is yours active or passive? Am thinking of switching out to Aguilar HC, but stock PUPS are so quiet. Not sure whether they are SC or hum canceling.
Had to bump this. I have a Bacchus 6 string coming this week, and this 4 is just a beauty.
I personally like the tones of these more than Sadowsky, and that is saying a lot. Sadowskys are awesome. I just like the lower midrange response the Bacchus J bass can provide.

Wow..thats awesome. You have the ebony fretboard it looks like. Do you like it? I feel like it is a perfect match for a J bass tone - wise, because it adds warmth and midrange. The active ones with a Bart pre have a bypass so I may go with that. But I love your passive because it has that serial switch. Im still surprised Fender never added that feature to their American J's.
The passive tone is amazing. Just kills in the mix.

Yep, thats what I have coming. Hand wound Bacchus Big singles, Bart XTCT pre with mid control, same neck as you. Im finishing up an instrumental from my record so I can lay it down in a mix and let people hear it. If you have any recordings with yours, please post. These handmade Japanese basses are seriously slept on. As a result, they cost less, which is great for us.
All I have at the moment are live recordings. Nothing really that great. Need to get back into the studio!
