No idea. I just like the way it sounds and the looks ain't bad. Thanks for all the nice comments; you all were very collectively helpful in picking the color in the other thread I posted.
Nice, I thought these only came in black, congrats! Oh, and whatever you do, do NOT change the black guard for a tort!!
The only "alterations" this bass is ever getting is setup work and strings. That's it. I did the mod stuff with some Fender Blacktop guitars I had and the results were - meh. Sold both of them. My bass teacher saw it today, played it, and *loves* it. A lot.
I too purchased a "Burst" Geddy Jazz last month (new). I am so glad that I did not get black because...1- black shows every smug, scratch etc,,,,,2- black is for this model is very common. I have had quite a few basses in the last 5 or 6 years (mostly used) and the Geddy has the best feel of anything I have owned...hands down.
I like that black shows every scratch and smudge...makes it look like you're working But I like burst, too!
Congrats and welcome to the GL club. I have a black one and I'll never get rid of it. Judging from some of the comments it looks like Bass Players are getting to the point of being spoiled and downright bitchy. Leave that to players of other instruments. We are the COOL ONES and should stay that way. That's a beautiful Axe you have there and you have the right to be happy and proud. Afterall who paid for it?
What a gorgeous bass. Congrats! I've had a black Geddy Lee for about 6 years now and it is a joy to play. If you're like me you'll never want to sell or trade it.
