Congrats on your new bass. May it serve you well. A quite radical but tasteful (IMO) implementation of the RD shape. Would love to try one someday. Play it in good health and enjoy.
Thanks! I actually have one being built now and saw this pop up at Chicago Music Exchange while waiting. Immediately nabbed it and sold another bass to cover it. Something truly unique and fun about Dunable basses! The R2 being built has block inlays, Swamp Ash body, and single coils in more of a Rickenbacker config w/ a series/parallel switch. It'll compliment this perfectly.
That’s such a good build, will definitely be worth the wait.. I understand the not wanting to wait- just got the bass I’ve been waiting for since last December. You should definitely share some clips when you’re able!
Congrats, that’s a beauty! Really a beautiful piece of wood, and a unique over all bass. Hope you get years of enjoyment with it! *Neither here nor there, but is there something strange happening w/ the trussrod cover, or is it just my eyes & a strange angle?
Ha, thanks! It's artistically cut Has a single screw. Looks weirder at that angle than it does straight on.
Now THAT is how I would build a bass! Exactly!! IMHO the P pups SHOULD have been reversed from the start. AND my modified Hagstrom has a big humbucker for the bridge pup.
not crazy about the headstock shape with that body but that is a beautiful piece of wood. how thick is the body? looks thick.
Not much thicker than my other basses. It has a belly cut and quite a few curves and corner rounding. Feels surprisingly good.
The custom I'm getting will be this, but with all black hardware and single coil soapbar styled pickups w/ a series/parallel switch. Hopefully be getting it in a month or two. It'll have the same pickups as the Jeff Matz High on Fire bass.
I played that black Limba r2 from the OP a couple times at Chicago music exchange. that bass is awesome. I'm glad you bought it so I wouldn't have to sell a kidney for more gear.
Me neither, but I really dig it! I'm more of a Rickenbacker 4003 and Fender player and this body feels right. First saw this Dunable body shape on a rig rundown for the band Power Trip and fell in love w/ it. Then I saw some videos of Sacha demoing the guitars and playing them in the band Intronaut and was sold.
I had a 2nd year RD in high school for a minute. Bought it bc I wanted an Explorer, couldn't find one bc the Internet didn't exist + one never showed on on Daddy's Junky Music.
He's amazing. He plays a lot of clubs in Vegas, his name is DJ Jeff Bomb. I went to college with him. It wouldn't surprise me if you were him and it was him buying a bass to lay down bass lines for his own DJ tracks.
