Well I snagged quite the deal on this bad boy. $150 with a hardshell case.

After reading how people post on these without showing proof, I figured I would drop the $150 to see for myself...

It is obviously a Jazz copy. It weighs in at 8lbs even on the bathroom scale. I think it is a swamp ash body but not "Certian" had to throw that in there lol.

It plays every bit as good as my 70's Jazz MIM reissue with every bit the sound. It just feels comfy like a Jazz bass should. Sorry about the pic, the finish is actually much brighter in person.

I am positive that David Certian buys the parts and assembles the basses in St. Louis. If you look closely at the logo it is affixed on top of the nicely finished nitro neck. I found that a little concerning but meh!! I have spent more on junk food than what I paid for this bass.

I love these reversed tuners, they are every bit as good as what is on a vintage Fender.

As David says on his web page description if cloth covered wires are good enough for 40 year old Fenders... She also has CTS pots to make it that much better. And these pickups sound every bit as good as my old 70's reissue mim as well, it has the typical Jazz bass hum with one pickup, but is dead silent with both. She also has an excellent range of tone.

Here is the only negative I can say. This looks like a very poor route job, but I bought the bass used so god only knows where it has been and what has been done to it.

I will try to record some sound clips later, and now I am on the look out for a P to match this beauty

  2. WOW! What a nice score..congrats. I was thinking of buying a bass from David that he had on Evil Bay but I found him quite pushy and sent me an invoice for the amount before I agreed to purchase. I also was not sure on the Re-sale value if I forked out $800 (US) to get one and I did not like it.
So I ended up with a Geddy Lee and I like it quite a bit. For the amount you paid..it is a steal..

Davids basses are worth what he charges.
I ordered mine custom. The process was trying.
David is "eccentric" to say the least.

    $150! Thats an awesome score.

Oh and... Im sure my bass has no resale value. Thats ok i dont consider my basses investments.

That is a great little bass man. Cant beat the price!
I too am located in Lethbridge currently and owned that one briefly (ended up scoring a roaring deal on an early 70's Jazz recently so I returned it to L&M last week)

Really love the sound of the pickups and the quality of the hardware/electronics are killer for the dough!

    Enjoy that beauty bro!

So you put the flats on it? I had to change them and put rounds back on. Nice to see someone else lives here in Point St. Nowhere :D
