23E2C063-D7CC-4D1B-B13A-CE674ACC903D.jpeg I actually got this a couple days ago from Sweetwater. It’s very light, but unfortunately the balance is a bit tippy towards the neck. I’m considering the Hipshot D-style bridge. Can anyone confirm if it will work with the stock tailpiece? Also, is it heavier than the stock bridge? That might help the balance.

    Awesome looking bass!

Getting weight off of the lever (in this case the neck) will help a LOT more with balance than adding weight at tue fulcrum (body) end. It would take a lot more additional weight at the bridge. Get some ultralight tuners. That will help a LOT more.

I have 2 Hipshot licensed Ultralites, so I could get 2 treble-side to see how much difference it makes. I still have an interest in the replacement bridge, though. The stock bridge is rather primitive.

  5. I like the look of the Embassy. Congratulations! I hope you solve your dive issue.

  6. A serious mod which will change the look of your bass quite considerably.

The type-D is 20 mm wider than the stock Embassy bridge. This puts the studs in a different position; not only that, they are also a different size. Mod is further complicated , the Hipshot threaded insert position just catches the existing ones.

You'll need to remove the existing inserts, without damaging the finish. Plug the holes then drill and fit the Hipshot inserts.

Not a 2 minute job nor one you can be certain would solve anything.

Good to know, I thought it was a direct replacement.

I suck, but nobody really notices
Hipshot ultralite tuners. Your bridge won't really do much. Tuners are the only things that help dive besides moving the top strap button. And your strap button is already in a good place.

Beautiful!!!!!:hyper::drool: I have a 1963 version of that bass with the batwing headstock. It has the same crossing gate effect.
    Beautiful!! Congrats!

You should hit us with a sound sample Dan. I've been looking at those basses for a while. It'd be nice to get a raw sample. One that hasn't been over produced like all the demo vids on youtube.

  14. Yeah, the stock tuners look like Gotoh die-cast. I don't think Ultra-Lites are going to make a difference here.

If the stock tuners were the big, old-school, open tuners, then this recommendation would make sense.

It's a bit tippy only because the body is so light (mine is 7.8lb, and it does have an upper horn). Add weight near the back strap button if you want. Wouldn't take much.

    I agree.

  16. My Embassy was sitting 3 foot away, digi calipers in a drawer by my knees.

All I had to do was call up the type-D tech drawing.

2 minutes to save a fellow TB'er time, money and hassle is time well spent

As it turns out, I don’t think the Hipshot Ultralites I have would work any way. (1/2”)
I might get a set of Gotoh GB350s, although the difference may be negligible.

Is the bridge supposed to be tilted, relative to the top of the body? DE66ABF0-C508-4018-84F2-C3CD9F8A6A45.jpeg
