NBD Fender Aerodyne Precision Bass

After seeing one recently, the GAS got the best of me and I bought this off a fellow TB member. It showed up today. and as he said the case had some issues but the bass is beautiful. Hopefully, I'll get time to play it this evening. The locks on the Fender case have issues (like someone having forced them open); but, fortunately, I save the SKB case that used to hold the MIM Jazz I sold last year.

Good looking bass.
The white binding looks great.
Nice to have a classic bass that looks a bit different.
Perfect color, too...matching headstock looks much better than a natural one, I think.
Killer pickup combo, of course.
I've had my eye on a dolphin gray Aeordyne Jazz on ebay, but shipping from Japan is crazy.

Heck to the yes! That blue is dreamy. I hope I didn't give you the GAS as I just got one too, but now that you have one I'm sure you forgive me if I did the instigating...fun huh? Congrats and enjoy!

Yeah, you're the one. I had never played one, never seen one, never wanted one and then "POW!" you had to post yours. It's either your fault or divine intervention.

These are unique in appearance and sound. The neck is fatter than my Thunderbird Classic IV Pro; so, that will take a little getting used to. The set up needs some tweaking and the 1/4" jack has some issues with the connection. I may need to take that apart and make some adjustments

If they made those things in a 5 string I would own one in every color (the J versions too). That thing is a beaut!

If you don't mind my asking, what's the going price on these things today? (PM me if you don't want your business aired.)

Enjoy it!

I had to replace the jack on mine. Stupid closed barrell jack that I couldn't adjust the contacts on. I think that's a common problem with these.

I always wondered about these; as I've never seen one up close and personal... are they a slab cut? ...is there a tummy cut on the back?

They have a pretty thin body with a maple cap. Yes on the tummy cut.

Was there a specific jack you used to replace it? I am also thinking the wiring needs to be checked because the P pickup is way stronger. As I back off the J pickup the other increases dramatically. If I turn the P down the J sounds weak and the other thing is the tone control works in reverse. I got a feeling someone changed PUps at some point and crossed the white and black.

It was quite a while back, so I don't remember specifics. I got the best barrel jack they had at GC at the time. I had to chisel out a bit of wood to get it to fit.

Yeah, sounds like someone was creative with the wiring on yours.
