Let me start off by saying this is absolutely the BEST bass I have ever laid my hands on. It's is absolutely perfect in every way. The radius is better than the AVRI 63 I once owned, way easier to play, for sure, the super dark rosewood is stunning, and every detail is perfect. It's light, 8lbs 6oz. Even the factory setup (or Sweetwater?) is flawless.

I am absolutely in love. This was a 40th b-day present to myself and I couldn't be happier. This is my life bass and we are in love. I am speechless. Honestly...and I recommend everyone buy one immediately. There is really nothing else left to say.

Thank you to the universe for blessing me today. I am one lucky guy!

So the difference between this and the professional is the pure 63 pickup?

That, and also nitro lacquer (gloss), vintage 60s style bridge, reverse open tuners, fret size (vintage tall VS narrow tall) and if Fender site is to be trusted, nut width on the 60s American Original is the same as the 50s American Original (1.73") vs 1.625" on the Professional.

  11. Congrats on a beautiful bass. I like the vintage style P-basses more than the modern. I have this one - not mine, but this exact model, an American Vintage '58 Precision Bass, built based on 3 original 1958s, and using much of the original tooling. It plays and sounds amazing. Looks pretty cool I think too!

They feel nothing alike. The American pros are very nice but lack character and vibes compared to the vintage style.

Sweet bass, best o' luck. Now go peel that plastic layer off of the pickguard and it'll look even better. ;-)

I actually ordered a 63 AVRI mint green guard but not so sure I want to install it now - the tort looks pretty amazing.
