I have always loved the early 70's Jazz basses. From the white neck binding, to the maple necks with the mother of pearl block inlays to the 70's pickup position. They are my favorite sounding, looking and playing jazz basses. So when I saw Fender was making a Vintage American 74 Jazz in white with a maple neck and MOP block inlays I had to look into one and maybe buy it. So it arrived today from AMS. First impressions are it needs new strings and a set up. But it's a nice weight at 8.5 to 9 pounds which is nice because all the ones I looked at or tried where close to 10 pounds. It's definitely got that 70's Jazz bass slap sound I love. Good balance. Nice construction and materials. The case is way cool with the orange lining and the chrome Fender logo on the outside. Plus nice case candy and all the hang tags. Here are a couple of pics. Gorgeous. My favorite color in these and that's how I'd dress her up too if she were mine. I would probably do a pearl PG, though. Fully tight white. Congrats!!!
Some pics of the bass with the white pickup covers on it. White pickguard coming for it tomorrow. View attachment 349037 View attachment 349038
Nice! Wow Fender did good by not adding any dumb CNC holes or routed trenches. Just like the original. How does the neck feel? I like it without the guard myself!
