NBD! Fender AVRI '63 Precision Bass!

I ordered this bass through Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta, GA - great service, highly recommended. I received the bass a few days ago and have been playing it nonstop. The quality of this guitar is spectacular. I've owned two Modulus basses (Flea/VJ), a Stingray, and currently have a G&L JB - this thing blows them out of the water. My store gave the bass a full inspection and setup, so I can't speak to the setup from the factory, but this thing plays great. I'm currently playing with the factory rounds to get a feel for the instrument, but I can see myself switching to the provided Fender flats soon. With a history of playing thin necks, I was afraid the 1.75" nut would give me trouble, but so far its pretty easy to move around on - maybe not as 'fast' as a jazz, but very comfortable. The bass produces fantastic tones and very much has that 'vintage' p bass sound we are all familiar with. After playing seriously for 10 years, this is my first foray into P bass territory and it definitely lives up to the standard I've heard so many TBer's rave about. Very excited about this one!

BTW - my poor photography does not do the bass justice...it is a lot more blue in person.

Thanks! I was concerned the bass would make me approach certain arrangements differently, but I still sound like me...just with the P bass sound, which is very pleasing.

    Congratulations, beautiful bass.
  6. I have multiple P-Basses, but I still want one of these! I played a red one, but I want a sonic blue like yours. Congratulations!

  7. That's quite the bass you gained!! Congrats. I generally don't like anything gold/gold plated, but that PG is very snazzy!!! Oh and being in ATL you should join my GA bassist club =p
  8. Southgabass, that's not a gold pickguard, it's mint.

Beauty, grats. Is it Sonic Blue or Daphne? Looks like Fender did a nice job recreating the era-correct minty pickguard, as well.

Nice score. Fender _finally_ hit it outta the park on this most recent set of reissues. Enjoy!

A P-bass with a set of Chromes is a beautiful thing. Nice addition!

My favorite AVRI combo in every way. Just needs TI flats. :)

thanks guys - I'm really enjoying the bass, its very light weight and resonate. I've still been playing with the factory rounds, but this bass screams for flats.
