This is a 2013 Fender Deluxe PJ Black with Red Guard Passive MIM Fender Special Run for Guitar Center. I played it a few days ago and I was blown away by this bass. I play Fender Custom Shop basses mostly and I had a hard time wrapping my head around how good this bass played and sounded considering the fact that it is MIM lol! The neck is like a Geddy Lee Jazz Neck...Jazz width nut...with 70's slim profile (more D shape) and radius, true rod adjustment by the headstock. The neck is straight as an arrow....I got the action ridiculously low. It came with a BadAss II bridge, a Noiseless Fender J pup in the Bridge and a P-Bass single coil. I'm not sure exactly what P-Bass single coil pup this is, but, it sounds phenomenal with higher output than a lot of P Bass pups I have played. The pickup set up is awesome...i like it better than other setups i have tried before...and with the Noiseless Pups (which i think are highly under rated), it is dead silent. The tone controls set up Volume Volume Tone....and it is a passive bass. After playing this, I did a lot of research on these and found this thread on a previous active version of this special run and i believe all or most of these were in Seafoam Green:

I played about 4 of them and this one was BY FAR 'THE ONE'...so consider that a warning if you are looking for one. This one is 8.8lbs...some that I played were 11+ and 10+ lbs.
I need to post sound clips because OMG this thing sounds unreal.
I can't wait to gig this bad boy :hyper:

    Cheers!!!

Wow. If that thing sounds as good as it looks you have SOME bass on your hands there mate! I have a 2011 Closet Classic Precision Pro from the custom shop and this beauty you have here aesthetically meets it on every level. You love the sound too, so I think you have not only got a great bass, but a great deal too. Total win. Congrats!!

I also have a Custom Shop Closet Classic Precision Pro!

These are both killer...the neck on this is slimmer.

These are awesome basses! Been GASing for the Seafoam Green one since I played it at GC. Not only is green my favorite color, but this thing just plays so smooth (love the Geddy-esque neck) and the sound is insane.

    Congratulations on your purchase!

Heres My CS P Bass Pro Closet Classic. I replaced the BadAss II with a Fender Vintage bridge...Much more "P Bass" sounding with the vintage bridge imo.

Played one in back at my local GC and loved it! Was easily my favorite 4 string I played that day(compared it to some poorly setup EBMM classics, a Marcus Miller J, and 2 Deluxe Fender Jazzes).

    Nice, enjoy!

I'm returning mine, nothing wrong with it, I just prefer a J/J rather than P/J and don't want to start modding it.

Thanks to your review (& so many rave reviews like it) & the pics of this beautiful bass, I found my new holy grail. I searched the GC website & found the closest one was 600 miles away in MO (there was a sea foam green only 200 miles away, but that color isn't quite for me). But get this, it's on clearance for $660!!

If this bass is a bargain for $900, we're getting away with murder for $660 & I couldn't be happier. I'm sharing this because if anyone else has interest (& you should!!), I believe all GCs are clearancing this for the new year. SO BUY IT NOW! I think it goes back up to normal after month of Jan.
