Hey! I am on vaction in Florida and today I drove to a few pawn shops near by. The first pawn shop I went to had a lot of moderatley priced basses plus 25% off. I picked up this 2001 MIM Fender Jazz bass. Beautiful finish and it feels and sounds great. Recently I sold my Squier Affinity Jazz V to purchase a 2001 MIM Fender Precision. Happy to have another jazz bass. Plus I have P and J twins now! The bass is missing one knob and has a small ding on the side. It's in need of a new set of strings. Can't wait to get it home. Here are some pictures I took when I got back to the hotel. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1373660849.009796.jpg ImageUploadedByTalkBass1373660923.804094.jpg

Thanks! Glad you mentioned the color. I was wondering what it was officially called.

Same here, my first Jazz was Agave Blue. I sold that one because it because it was a temperamental boat anchor that refused to be set up, but it sure looked nice! :p

I believe they called that color "Sage Green"?

I remember in about 2001-2002 thinking I HAD to have that color of Strat. Went to Guitar Center 3 times a week to play it, trying to wait to save enough money. Eventually they had a used oly white one for sale and I ended up getting that.

I prefer MIJ, but I wouldd've snatched that one up as well; congrats! Love the color...

  12. that bad boy could use a pair of new strings...nice score!

edit: whoops you already mentioned that..

  13. May not be the most popular opinion, but I think that thing would look killer with pickup covers! I love my jazz with them, you get used to them quite fast.

I was thinking that it would look great with some covers. I was just concerned with how it limits the playability. I think I will try them out!

Definitely in need of some new strings. Can't wait to get it home tomorrow!

  16. To be honest, I hated them the first two days but I promised myself I would try them for a week. The third day I started to get the hang of it, and by the end of the first week I knew I wouldn't take them off. You get a nice thumb rest for playing between the pickups, and you can slap up in front with no issues.

I find the fresh look to be worth the week long adjustment period. And remember, if you put them on post pictures! I would love to see that badboy with some covers.

A friend of mine had a MIJ Fender Jaguar. Love that bass.

  18. Sweet sweet bass. Congrats on that beaut. Love
    the color.

I bought a MIM Jazz new back in '94. Still gig it
    all the time.

What do you think of the pups? (I've changed the
    pups twice in mine)

    Here's a pic. ('cause I love pics.)

    Thanks!

Beautiful bass you have! I like the tort guard on it.

I can't really comment on the pups yet. I'm still in Florida and haven't got to play it through my rig.

Which pickups work best for you?

Cool, that year had really shallow fast necks!
