I have to redo the insulation strips (pickup height) and adjust the string height at the nut.

I may go with nickel screws instead of black.
  7. That is seriously snazzy!

Next stop.. custom 3 ply pickguard, black/abalone/black.

    Very tasteful rework. Good job!

    Is that an ebony fingerboard?

It is a MIM Rosewood neck, darkened with India ink (3 coats), wiped down thoroughly until no ink residue was produced, and it has a fresh application of boiled linseed oil.

I regularly name member's basses (cause I have nothing better to do), and the first thing that popped up was...

    ... yep. Robocop.

  13. I love seeing people do these projects!

My own '70's Punk Rock P-bass came out incredibly well too (Warmoth Olympic White-Alder Body-black pickguard/Fender Lic. Mighty Mite P neck/Dimarzio P PUP, etc...).

    Your new ride looks killer!

As an aside- On one of my first basses, I actually took chrome car bumper paint to a P-style body, in hopes of making it, well, chrome. Didn't work out quite the way I planned it though. So i do have some envy for your color choice!

That is hilarious. Didn’t think of that one. I was aiming for something aquatic.

If you add a green, scaly banana hammock to your onstage persona, you can go with...

Thanks! I’ve tried that spray paint too years ago. LOL - also definitely not what I hoped.

That Fender FSR platinum color is not often seen, and it seems to work well with the black, chrome and abalone. I’ve seen more strats than basses. I was actually looking for a sea foam green pearl body but never ran across one. Once I saw this body, I thought yeah that will definitely work with the abalone inlays I had planned. It also opened the door for the black headstock.

The Fender MIM body has a factory non conductive black coating nicely applied in the cavities. I put copper tape down anyway. (Very quiet electronics.) It is very resonate.

I was very impressed with the quality of the neck (once refretted) and body. I like that the neck has the truss rod adjustment at the headstock. Much easier to get to than a lot of USAs.
