Stopped by a guitar center over the weekend and eyed this bass on Presidents’ Day. Couldn’t believe the price! Till I discovered a chip of paint from the bottom strap button. YIKES!!! So I played it and noticed the bridge pickup was not working. No sound. Nothing! Luckily their tech was in so he opened it up and took a close inspection. He couldn’t find anything wrong as they were wired properly. Go figure, GC got stuck with a lemon so it made sense why the price was listed as such Thankfully one of the workers was happy enough to order me a BRAND NEW one for the price they had it for at the store. Couldn’t believe it! Fast forward four days later, this beauty arrives on my doorstep! Looking fresh out of the box! I really love the color and had plans to modify it but it plays really well to not be violated. So I’m leaving it as is…. Except for the pickguard!!! I happen to have a white and pearloid pickguard laying around so I’m having fun choosing between the two I like better or keep it tort. Skies the limit, I’ll let everyone that’s reading to enjoy the fun!
that's cool that you got a brand new one from a store for that price but i've seen some used classic series/vintera 60s and 70s jazzes in better condition than that chipped one for the same price sitting for a long time on craigslist, reverb, etc. even on ebay within the last couple months i saw 3 brand new vintera 70s jazzes sell at auction for $600, $700 and $800 and they were in brand new condition and included gig bag. boggles the mind.
Mint? Black? I voted pearloid. It looks classy. The white looks good, too. I generally like tort. But not on this one.
I just put together a Daphne blue parts J and used 3-ply parchment and added a tug bar, I dig it. Tort just wasn't workin for me on it. Congrats on the new bass and enjoy it whichever way you go...
