It is a very exciting day; in addition to celebrating my Mother and Granrmother, this fretless atrocity arrived today. By far the most comfortable bass I have ever played, and it sounds dang good too.
Somebody finally bought it! . I had this bass in my cart on Reverb about 14 times lol. If it's that bass, which it looks like it is. I think you'll love it, G&L makes a superb instrument! Enjoy! L
Very pretty! Congratulations! The more I read about these the more I like them. Passive, correct? Very cool. Play it in good health!
If that's the one I almost bought, it's a chechan rosewood board. Which is what I believe is on my jaco also.... L
But the only reason I didn't pull the trigger on this one was it was a 5 string. And I know my arms eventually rebel when I play anything thicker than a 4 string and it starts sitting on the stand all the time.... but looks it went to a good home after all . L
Thank you! Yeah its passive, but it's easily just as hot as my stingray was. Different tone, of course, but major output for sure.
Its Chechen I believe. Really interesting color, great tone though. Very dense wood. It seems like G&L experimented a lot with fingerboard wood; my close friend has a fretless L2000 from the 80s with this trippy laminate fingerboard.
G&L's 4+1 headstock looks way better than their 3+2, in my opinion. A Fender-style 3+2 usually doesn't appeal to me... although Lakland's wasn't bad.
Dang! I'm sure your mom and grandma are worth celebrating and all, but that bass is really cool. Speaker on the porch, turn to 11 so we can all hear it. Mwaaaahhhhh.
I don't like the post-lawsuit G&L headstock in general, with that pointy thing they added. I guess the 3+2 softens it to my eyes by making it appear... more symmetrical maybe?
