This was unexpected...popped up on my favorite local music store’s site. My last G&L bass was a Tom Hamilton signature ASAT that was beautiful and sounded great, but I found it uncomfortable to play (slab body, sharp edges).

    2013 G&L SB-2...Candy Apple Red Metallic with matching headstock...I couldn’t resist!!!

Nice! Are you going to leave it as is or put a tone knob on it?

Congrats! I had an SB-2 made up years ago. I wished I'd hung on to it.

After researching a bit more, I know now there is a SB-2T...I did read up beforehand to understand that many were able to alter the tone via the volume knob on the J pickup, especially, so I’m going to see how that works...

Thanks! It’s pretty...I changed the strings to some GHS Boomers because the existing ones were shot, and because the red silks matched! :)

It is possible, if you think of the jazz bridge pickup as essentially the "tone" control of the bass - it's not really a PJ bass in the way most are but more a P Bass with a jazz bass pickup used for tone. the MFD jazz bass pickup soloed doesn't really sound all that good anyway.
I owned an unaltered Tribute SB2 previously, and when I thought of it this way, I found it easier to dial in the "tone" I wanted. I didn't mod the bass the whole time I owned it, but in retrospect, had I owned it a bit longer I probably would have done the mod.

Looks aren’t everything, I know, but I am a sucker for matching headstocks!
  16. Congrats! The SB-2 has been on my GAS list for a long time. One like this except with a black pick guard.

G&L does awesome metal flake finishes...the ASAT I owned was red metal flake with silver metal flake binding...it was striking!
