I just did a bit of wheeling and dealing, and ended up with a very clean Gibson Thunderbird, with a practically new Gibson hardshell case...I looked it over pretty carefully, and it doesn't appear to have any "issues"... I'm not a big fan of them, but the deal was so good, I couldn't turn it down... I figure I'll spiff it up a bit, new strings, and a setup - and play it for a bit, to see if it grows on me... I may just keep it around for an alternative to the Fenders and EBMMs I normally play - we'll see...

    Anyways, here's some crappy pics:

Sweet George! Nice to have as a completely unique (imho) tone/playing option.

    2006?

Nice bass. I had the same one. Great neck and they sound killer. I am a small guy so reaching the first couple of frets was a bit hard for me. Didn't really notice the neck dive issue though.

Thanks - I'm certainly going to give it every chance, and might just keep it because it's so much different than every other bass I own...

Thanks - I haven't played it standing up yet, but I used to have an RD Artist that I really liked, so I *think* I can make this one work...

Congratulations nice bass. I usually play Fenders but I have a white Thunderbird also mine is one of the lightest Gibsons I've ever owned 7 1/2 lbs and no neck dive.

  12. Congrats on your tbird!!!! I always wanted one. Never cared.for the EPI. birds and can't afford the Gibby Bird. I think a nice compromise would the a EPI tbird pro!!! Anyways hope ya enjoy her :)

Congrats! Great body shape. The one's I've tried were always heavy though.

Thanks - yeah, this one is pretty light, too - I haven't weighed it yet, but I know it's well under 9lbs, probably around 8 lbs... I got a strap set up for it last night, and played it standing up for awhile - and it wasn't too neck divey...

Yeah, I know they have their fans - I wouldn't have bought one for what they typically go for, but couldn't turn this one down, considering the deal I made for it...

Thanks - this one isn't heavy at all - probably 8lbs, or maybe less...

Thanks - other than a couple of little dings in the back, it's pretty pristine... Those pics were from just getting home - I oiled the fretboard, cleaned, and polished it up - and it does look really good...
