I have wanted a fretless ever since 2010 or so, after goofing around a bit with a Modulus VJ4 for a few minutes at Jive Sound in Virginia. (Thanks, Jong). Never got around to it, though, until getting motivated to put together this project with my son Noah.

--Body from Wildwood, purchased here with the ALBridge from @59jazz.
--Neck is from Rob and Dawn Green at Status Graphite.
    --Pickup is from Lindy Fralin.
--Strings are LaBella Black Tapes from the TB shop.
--Retro-cool "Space Strap" made by Samuele and Alberto at LeRockskin.
--Tuners are Gotoh Reso-Lite vintage-style reverse, purchased here from @tb-player.
--Awesome pickguard is from Mike Quick at Quickguards.

Look and logo designed by my son and me, after he had dubbed the project "Space Bass" due to the lightweight body and graphite/carbon fiber neck. My son photoshopped a guide of sorts for @Wilkins (Pat) who took it from there, spectacularly painting and finishing the body and neck--see the slick fade even on the fretlines and board--and expertly handling assembly and setup.

The end result, an absolutely stunning fretless P-bass (IMO) that plays and sounds better than I could have dreamed. All that, and it came in at a perfectly balanced 7 lbs 12 oz. Now if I can only pry it out of Noah's hands for a bit.

We never could have put this together without the knowledge so generously shared by all of you great TB'ers. My son and I thank you.

That finish on the front has sort of a trompe l'oeil effect in those pictures. I'm looking for the other light source. Fantastic.

    Good eye
It certainly does. Pat's a genius. The effect is also enhanced by the great work Mike did on the pickguard, particularly the edge, which is rounded to make the sparkles look like a galaxy of stars floating in deep space. The bass shifts wonderfully with light and position.

I mentioned that to my son when we started. He said he didn't know Bootsy's bass was known as the space bass and, even though he appreciated Bootsy's playing, he didn't care. :)

For those who have asked about the process, here's a pic of the body before Pat worked his magic or added Mike's pickguard, followed by the Photoshop idea my son sent to Pat.

    Congrats!!
Beautiful bass. You're gonna love the Status neck.
I've got a few, and they're stellar (no pun intended).

Interesting anomaly in the final photo, the headstock appears as if it has a scallop or inlay of maple. Weird effect.
