Squier CV ‘50s P has arrived... pretty nice looking piece-o-lumber... annnnd only 8.15lbs! I was concerned it might be heavy- as many of these are. Has a ‘threaded-barrel’ bridge as well! Have a set of Labella low-tension flats due to arrive- later today and have a ‘51 bridge cover to install. Pu sounds decent- but may install a Duncan or Fralin split-coil in the days to come... and, maybe, some Hipshot tuners (will see how well she stays in tune). Happy to be joining the crew!! {} {}
That's rockin'! Plug it in and GO! That's a lot lighter than my Ps so good for you, nice score. p.s. Jason Lollar makes a really amazing and authentic sounding pickup for that. Can't go wrong with the Fralin either.
Nice, looks rockin'. That Lindy split J will make your teeth buzz. That's going to be an awesome bass.
That’s awesome that the bridge dropped right in. I know that was an issue with the earlier CV’s. That thing looks damn proper and probably sounds it too.
Yup- I had a Butterscotch Blond CV ‘51- some years ago and had to do some, very minimal, filing of the Fralin pu to get it to fit... this one was snug- but no filing needed! (I’m assuming you were referring to the pu)
I love the lollipop tuners and have really been digging the tele headstocks lately. Looks awesome and I bet it sounds awesome, congrats !
Thx! Yup- sounding pretty good... haven’t had ‘er in a band mix- just yet- but I’m sure it will be good !! Here’s a pic of my last Tele-P ‘project’- sold, about 6mos. ago to another TB member. (refinned, etc. a Mike Dirnt P) {}
I love mine. I actually like the pickup as well, it has good thump. but it also has a gnarly overdriven sound if you bear down. The stock pickguard is horrid, so thick and cheap feeling. I tried 2 different replacements, but decided I like mine better naked, screw holes and all. Nice job on yours!
nice all the way around --- from beginning to end! it really does look the part and it fits in well with your collection! congratulations on your new instrument!
A few more adjustments (new neck, etc.) & a new Sonic Blue ‘refin/assembly’ build... now a family of four! (pre pg pic) {}
