    Hello All,

I have a new bass day to share finally. A Lakland 55-02 Spalt Top Deluxe. This bass is awesome!! Very beautiful and plays/sounds amazing. She even has a beautiful grain on the fretboard. Did I mention she also has a little birds eye on the front of the headstock and Also on the back of the neck. She weighs 11.5lbs. I Love heavy basses.

    Thanks

I was thinking of adding a clear pickguard using double sided tape. I do not use a pick. But I thought to protect against messy slapping technique lol.

    What do you think?

  6. If it's a clear pickguard wouldn't you see the tape?

Thanks!! I really love the Spalt pattern.

  10. Excuse me but 11.5 lbs? Dang!

Congrats on the new bass. You are a stronger man than I for rocking that boat anchor. Play it in good health!

Has anyone used double sided tape instead of screwing the pickguard down?

Got to play it live a few days ago. Sounds amazing. I’ll probably do a string change to my usual string choice. DR Sunbeams.

I’m still loving this bass. Plays like a dream. I will throw a set of DR Lo Riders on her.

Spalted Maple is the only top / fancy wood that really gets me outside of a flame top Les Paul guitar. I'm a boring Fender guy through and through and that is gorgeous! Glad you are happy with it!

I wouldn't even bother. Put some wear marks on it. Play the (expletive) out of it, make it your own.

Thanks!!! I haven’t added the guard yet. I have been going back and forth with it. I’ll probably not add it.

    She is gorgeous
