I negotiated a trade today for this Lull M5 fretless. Spalted maple over ash, ebony 'board, 34-inch scale. Bartolini NTMB+F preamp and Bart pickups. It sounds as good as any fretless I've played (F Bass, Pedulla, Fodera, Lakland). Now I just need to get my fretless chops back up - it's been a few years. It may have belonged to one of you.

    Lull M5 fretless.

That's gorgeous congrats and it never belonged to me because no way that would leave my possession. :)

This is my first Lull, BTW. It just kept calling my name.

I had to pop back in and take another look I love that wood and man I would love to get a high end bass like this and learn how to play an unlined fretless whenever I see one I get super intimidated. After a few days would you mind giving us a first impression review?

So what did you trade for it? Is there a cool Munjibass floating around on the used market now?

No lines, you got your work cut out, still that is one beautiful bass. Congratulations, Munji!

Yeah, I KNOW where you have been!

REALLY nice bass - I just got an unlined fretless also and am working to convert my cello chops to fretless bass.

    CONGRATS!

Congrats, Munji...on acquiring my old bass! I hope you enjoy it! Tough decision to let it go, but I decided to go with another MTD...(and I'm held to a 3-bass limit in MY world! :))

I thought Mike did a fantastic build job on this fretless, and he had high praise regarding the tone! For the record, here's a pic of Mike himself playing it, after the build...

  12. Very nice. A Lull fretless is on the shortlist of next basses for me.

You sure have some nice basses sir and this one fits right in with the others. I LOVE the look of an unlined fretless but find I don't play mine much. I just listed my Spectorcore because I rarely pick it up.

If I get the itch down the road I might just buy a fretless neck and throw it on a J sometimes.
