It's been a few weeks since i got my new bass, after selling my old Mayones.
This is a 1993 Made in Japan Fender Precision Reissue '57, it was the top of the fender japan line at the time, you can see the brochure here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (PB 57-95)

It differs from every other japanese precision I've seen:
- Nitro lacquer finish for the body(i believe it's just the top coat, just like the american reissue line).
- 2 pieces (matched) alder body.
- Vintage type fender bridge, and the period correct fender reverse tuners (these are different from the tuners seen on ANY other japanese fender, it looks like the same on the AVRI ones to me)
- Supposedly "USA" pickup (it looks different from the ones found in more recent MIJ RE basses, which are the ones found in USA standard basses few years ago, since they have plastic support bobbin, on the other hand it differs from the fender AVRI pickup because it doesn't have cloth wiring)
- Supposedly USA electronics with switchcraft jack (i'm positive on this one), CTS pots, the capacitor is an orange drop maybe
Since it's a RI bass it has vintage frets, 7,25" radius and so on.
The fretwork is excellent. As of now, the bass is strung with thomastik flatwounds and I have an action of 1mm on the G string (a bit less than 0,04 inches) and 1,5mm on the E (less than 1/16 inches).
It weighs 8-8,5 lbs, there's a little bit of neck diving going on.

There's some noise going on because my room's wiring system is not properly grounded.
The first part is played with the tone pot a bit more than halfway, everything else is with tone dimed.

To make it easier to hear differences coming from different strings/setup and more importantly different hands.
It sounds closer to the Fender original sample than the fender stock one to me, although is still very different.
