So, a few years back I made an adult (with wife and kid on the way) decision to sell off my lovely MM Big Al bass to pay off a student loan, and I went on the cheap with an LTD vintage-204. it was a lovely bass. Since that time, my financial situation has improved, we have 3 kids, and life is good. I did some wheelin-&-dealin on a few basses and I had some spare economy to deal with. I wanted a Reflex or a Big Al again. I found this one on the ernie ball forums and paid the man. Its the limited edition Dargie Delight SSS 4-string Big Al with Ebony fretboard and very nice abalone fancy-pants inlays. I was interested to see that it came with TI Flats installed. I will give them a trial run this evening at rehearsal, as it is my first experience with these highly touted strings. the bass is in near mint shape, with minor swirling on the pickguard only. the color is wild. very cool, very unique shifting going on. enjoy the pics, i'm gonna go play! {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
Hey, that's the one I want! @Joe Nerve likes those too! Cool bass. I'm sure you two will be very happy together.
I never knew those color shifted orange - noice. One of the few basses that I periodically think I should try and pick up. I dig the Big Al SSS thing...
Nice job on capturing the color shift! I've always wondered what color they shifted to. I've only seen pics in their green state. Enjoy!!!
thank you all. this one sounds as good as the first, but it plays nicer. the neck just feels better. i typically prefer maple and ebony over rosewood, and the last one was rosewood. very nice fretwork on this one.
Great acquisition! Congrats! The color is stunning. drool Would love to try one of these. Don't care for the body shape though.
Very cool bass, Congrats! I have always loved the DD green but all these years and I never realized that it was a color shifting paint.
I finally got to hear one of these live over Labor Day at a local festival. Best of all he was playing through my amp on the backline. I was completely knocked out by the huge vivid tones he got in every setting. Congrats on a beautiful instrument.
Thank you all again. Just got back from rehearsal. I believe the TI's will be staying for the time being. They are giving me a nice sound. Overall, couldn't be happier with the bass. Sits well on the strap, not really heavy, and the neck is great. It's got that matte velvety feel and the ebony board takes it a bit further. The color is great. You get shades of green mostly, and at the extremes it can be gold/orange, but it's not normally displaying those hues. Looked nice under the lights!
