It's a Tom Clement build. Redwood top, blood wood fingerboard, EMGs, (not sure what the pre is) 3-band active EQ with sweepable mids, and vintage style frets.

My only regret is not having gotten a 6-string sooner. It's has opened me up creatively and added some new vocabulary to my ability to communicate on the bass.

    I feel like I'm so set with 1 4-string, 1 5-string, and now a 6er.

I've done some recordings with the Clement and it sounds awesome! I've always been chasing that burpy/growly gospel type tone. Can get close to what Andrew Gouche gets out of his MTD 6.

  2. I am not a singlecut guy, but I love that shape. Killer looking bass. Tom's stuff is almost always great sounding as well.

Me too, generally. Not my thing, but that looks very well executed. Nice.

It sounds as good as it looks, in my opinion.

The 35" scale is absolutely taking me a while to get used to. I may drop down to lighter gauge strings. Maybe 130, 100, 80, 65, 45, 32 like D'Addario offers would be good... I know the extra punch from 105 and 85 E and A strings is good, but do you think maybe the 35" scale helps add some of the punch that is lost from using thinner strings? Anyone have experience with that?
  5. That's a gorgeous addition - congrats!
