Someone offered this with the aforementioned amp for 200 euros total ($225) and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. However, I can't even identify this bass. It has active electronics (with a switch for passive/active at the back of the body), it has a two band EQ, tuners seem really nice, seems to be from '89 and has Jackson pickups. Also has a "charvel" inlay on the 12th fret. And plays really smooth but some frets have grooves in them so it is up for a fret level. Anybody got an idea of what I got, exactly? I can't find a bass like this online anywhere, usually it doesn't have the inlay @ 12th fret, or it has charvel (rather than jackson) pickups, or it has a different knob placement. Of course, I am comparing it to Charvel Eliminator bass, but it seems to be a bit more modern ('90+).
that is a Charvel Fusion 89-91. they also made a 5string version. ( the green and black ones - the red one is an eliminator )
Yeah, just found it, thanks! I just don't understand why they have two names for such similar models.
well they are not really similar, the eliminator IV has a different body and knob configuration and the input jack on the side and dots for the 12th.
Oh, I didn't notice the body change on the left. BTW, why does my charvel have jackson pickups, bridge and tuners?
because Grover Jackson owned the company and they probably has a gazillion of each on the shelves when they moved the production to Japan in the 80s..... just a guess but I would assume so because 99% of all my 80s Charvels have Jackson branded stuff.
Ah I see, that makes sense from what I've read about the (somewhat confusing) relationship of the two companies.
