I picked up this Player Series P from a trade I made through CL. I like the sage green a lot. I’m going to make it look like the Jazzmaster fender has in the same color with the black pg and cream covers/knobs. If you have any suggestions for cream knobs let me know, I had to get some cream jazz knobs for now.

Beautify Bass. I just ordered one myself but black with maple fretboard.
What do you think of it so far? How does it compare to the Fender standard series?
As for your mods I think it would look amazing!

I have another MIM P from 2009, but I put EMG GZR’s in is when I got it so I can’t say for sure how it compares. I will say that this new P has a sharper edge on the fretboard than my older one, but it’s not bad.

Yeah Fender discontinued the ‘Standard’ series and they made a few changes (big one being new alnico pickups) and call it the ‘Player’ series.

They have replaced the Mexican Standard series. There’s lots of discussion about them in the Fender 2018 MIM Player Series thread.

Cries out for a better bridge. Am I the only one who heard it?

  13. You may as well get cream strat knobs to complete the look you’re going for. There is precedence for this ala the mim’s Of 20 years ago.

That’s what I’m looking for! But these are solid shaft pots and I can’t find any that take a set screw.

I have one of these and love it..... as to your desire to change its appearance, LEAVE IT ALONE. It looks just fine.

I have a Player in Butterscotch, and i think it's the only bass Fender has gotten right since they changed the P around '62 or '63. Mine didn't need any mods, but i swapped the neck to a jazz neck I had, and added a Hipshot bridge (also just lying in my parts cab). it's a screamer now. Love the pickups.

Cream strat knobs would be perfect. Volume and Tone.
