Here's my brand new Jackson JS3QV, purchased from MF because Sweetwater was out of stock. It was horribly unplayable out of the box. The neck had some severe backbow and the saddles had all been set as high as they would go. Buzzes galore. The truss rod was frozen and it took me 1/2 an hour of gentle tapping and flexing of the neck to get it to move. Then a day and a half of incremental loosening until I got it to 0.010" gap at the 7th fret. Dropped all the saddles to a more sane position and set intonation. Wait a minute - the allen wrenches they put in the box don't even fit this bass! That's also when I discovered that the controls were wonky. They wired the bass & treble EQ knobs backwards, and the blend knob had the neck and bridge pickups reversed! Out came the soldering iron to rewire it the way it was supposed to be. Two of the five tuning machines were mounted crooked - you can see how bad the A string tuner is in the picture - the B is not so obvious. I'll need to redrill the screw holes and fill the old ones - just waiting a bit to make sure the neck stays stable and doesn't twist. Also, even though the neck is bound, I managed to cut my fingers on the sharp frets and leave blood stains on the white binding. Out came the fret files. This thing would have been returned in a heartbeat if MF didn't charge shipping (both ways) for returns. It would have cost me 1/2 the price of the bass to return it, so I clenched my teeth and fixed it myself instead. At least it sounds good and plays well after all that work. However, shame on Jackson (Fender) for the shoddy work and double shame on MF for not even inspecting it before sending it out. I think this will be my last MF purchase, and also my first and last Jackson.

Aw. Well, if it's any consolidation. The color of it is really pretty
