I think I may have checked the FedEx website every 15-mins today...just waiting on this baby to arrive! I'm becoming a huge Roger R bass fan. I have two of his basses now and I am floored by the quality and craftsmanship. Here are the specs: Mahogany body Buckeye Burl top 5pc neck Maple w/mahogany stringers Wenge Fretboard w/Buckeye dot inlays Hipshot A bridge Gotoh tuners Howard Ulyate Custom dual coil pickups Nordstrand 2-band preamp w/tone control Active/Passive Coil tap switches Buckeye Burl knobs 24 frets 34" scale 20mm spacing at bridge She sounds amazing but the action is too low so I need to do some adjusting before I can really dig into her.
Indeed Ray's craft to perfection is amazing. I also own two, a Roger Jazz Bass 5 and a R SC 6, both basses have out of this world definition, unique tone, well tempered, ergonomics, the search is over. Now that I have the Roger sound in my head is easy to compare other boutique instruments, I play them then I realize that they lack that definition of the Roger Basses. The only ones that get such level of definition and can be compare are the Peter Hilton Basses and the Carl Thompson Basses. I am waiting for my 2 Roger Fretless that are almost done 4 & 5 Strings. Enjoy yours…Congratulations…
The above pic is horrible...took it with my cell phone. Just wanted to show you that we are brothers!! I also have a Roger Jazz. Nice! I love Roger basses...nothing really compares to the quality!
Yes it is true nothing compares and I owned, F basses, Elrick, Fodera, STR, Bossa, MTD USA, Sadowsky and Ray's basses continue winning.
A fretless Roger is on my wishlist! Nice! I know you will enjoy these basses! I have a 4-string Kudela fretless bass on the way!
Well, I must say, it is the best fretless bass that I have ever owned. My only reference is a US Lakland Decade Fretless 5 that I owned a few years ago. The craftsmanship is incredible! I heard that this was your first fretless...I can tell you placed some extra care on this one. It it an absolute beauty! Thanks for sharing your art!
Well, thank you so much Sir!! Actually, there were 2 before that one. They were built early on in the process. Now that I think about it, the first bass I built was a fretless. Haven't thought about it in years! In some respects that is the first one. In terms of serial numbers, that is 001. Please keep me posted, let me know what you're finding with it. Thanks again.....SK
