I just received this bass today from the Roscoe shop and I'm really impressed. I purchased this bass used and had it sent from the seller to Keith to have it plek'd and the pickups upgraded. Bass is like showroom new. Best setup and action I've had in a bass and the best B string. Keith said this was one of the nicest Cocobolo tops he's done and that the Wenge Sapwood fretboard was a limited run of wood that he can no longer get. I have TGHknobs making me a set of custom wood knobs Ash and Cocobolo tops coming. These basses are amazing. {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
I haven't played this SKB enough to know for sure yet but so far I can't tell much difference. The SKB is a little heavier at a little over 9 pounds vs the Century being a little over 8 pounds.
That's one of the woodiest basses I have seen to date! It's so beautiful! I love your mentality in sending it to Roscoe to ensure that it plays as good as it looks! drool
Looks fantastic, I miss that one! Undoubtedly the best looking bass I've ever owned. When we were PM'ing about this bass, I completely forgot about this little video I made using that bass and thought it might come in handy if you wanted to compare the DCBs vs. the Big Singles that were in it. Congrats, you'll definitely enjoy it!
Wow... Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin. Never heard of/seen Wenge sapwood being used before - amazing how it has the textured appearance still; mildly “bleached” out, but dark enough so it still blends nicely with the overall instrument. Stunning!
I actually had seen that video a while back before I even had the chance to purchase this bass and loved the tone. I've owned 8-9 basses with the Big Singles and liked those pickups. Honestly the Aguilar DCB's are a major upgrade IMO. This bass with the Plek job and Electronics is the best playing bass I've owned and that's saying something. Keith fixed the only blemish on this bass on the back where the clearcoat had a small ding. It looks brand new now.
If nothing else it’s nice to see more of the tree being used instead of just the heartwood. In the past I’m sure it would have been thrown away (same thing with streaked ebony).
