Nice. I have the 2014 Red P-Bass version. Just wish they were based on the Standard rather than the Special (Precision is based on a Special so I’m assuming that the Jazz is also based on a Special rather than the Standard). They certainly are cool looking.
Additionally the tuners are lower ratio and the bridge isn’t string through body like a Standard. At least on the P-Bass version.
Honestly, I'm OK with it being based on the special. I really don't care for string-through bodies or the Fender bridges that come with them. The 'old-school' bent-plate bridge is good enough for me and and works better with the string gauges I use.
I have a 2011 Special Jazz that is indeed special. It sounds and plays amazing, as I prefer the thinner neck compared to the Standard. Strings through the body? Not required, sounds amazing as is. I actually prefer the Greasebucket circuit, because it actually works and doesn’t just muffle the tone. I played them back to back, and the Special just fit in my hands better and purchased it on the spot. I’ll keep it forever! Aside from my Sadowsky, it’s my next favorite bass. The Specials were always underrated. Not mine. Your Special is extra special, enjoy! {}
I don’t recall a P/J version Would have lost that bet This is my 2014 P {} Thanks to the OP @hyp.spec , G.A.S. is starting for a Sandblasted J. Must resist must resist must resist must resist
I've often wished that with these satin / no-filler paint jobs, that someone would offer 'sandblasted' hardware: That is, all the chromed or nickled shiny bits instead in a finish that would resemble 316 Stainless, or a pewter-like finish, that would really cut down on the fingerprints !
