Hey all: Just received her today....Jazz Select in Amber Burst...Passive with custom "select" pickups...Some very smooth P Bass like tones if you want...Like I do. Gave my custom treatments: Chrome Thumbrest Chrome knobs But, I kept rounds on for now, due to the nice tone with the custom "select" pickups. I usually put Chromes on immediately. What do you think of her... Before And After
Very pretty!! [Del]Are the Select pickups hum cancelling or a special wind single, or...?[/del] Never mind..googled the Fender site; evidently a special single...Wow, that's a nice bass. I wasn't previously familiar with them. Congratulations!!
Thanks Guys... P/U's are similar but have more bottom end than the new 2012. So, dial in the neck and you have almost a P bass tone. The pick ups are "hot" for a passive. The .25 sawn neck feels very "playable" and smooth This is what I would call Fender's "boutique" bass. Very, very nice instrument.
The aged is the one I ordered after some thoughts form the "group" and then looking at the "gold" pieces in it. I also have a P with a white pearl and decided to go with the same as you. Man let me tell you...Just finished rockin' with my kid, 11.5 yrs old who plays guitar lead/rhythm and I can't believe how good this Jazz sounds and I am a P guy. I just have to say also, nothing like hearing my kid who I taught at to play guitar at 9, NAIL the lead on Smoke on the water...Literally brought a tear to my eye. And this piece with a darkglass micro tubes pedal kept the rhythm going for him...Old school baby This is an outrageously GREAT sounding bass.
Very nice, and congrats - I could definitely see one of those in my future... I also would've went with aged white pearl for the PG - another fine choice... - georgestrings
