This showed up today. Holy Molly, what a bass. Serek Armitage in sunburst. Poplar, maple, and pau ferro with flatwounds. Curtis Novak BS-DS. The finish and feel is stellar, plays amazing. The pickup feels a lot more even than the traditional P on it's Chicago step-brother. My compressor is almost always on with the P, and had no need for it with the Serek. If Serek is not on your radar, better put them front and center. This is a terrific instrument. {} {}
That 44-64 still has the best damn neck of any bass I've ever gotten my hands on. Not going anywhere.
I was really digging the stuff that was posted about them at NAMM! Looks great - I really like the look of the Lincoln. Black with tort.
1 pickup in the middle position Volume knob Tone knob Input jack on the front What else do you need? This bass looks awesome.
Mine (midwestern 2)should be done in late April! I went with a Guild Bisonic/Novac BS/DS combo for some added versatility. Enjoy your new Serek!
Is the bass quite a bit smaller than the Lakland or is it just the photo? Either way it looks beautiful. Congrats!
Just picked up a Serek last week - a Lincoln with the BS-1 pickup. I was semi considering getting a quote for basically this exact bass for a while then it popped up on CME/Reverb during their last sale so I took a chance. Heck of a build. Super light, very slim and playable neck, very familiar sound but unique in its own way. {} Ended up recording with it this weekend. Very happy with this one {} All around highly recommend checking out a Serek if you have the chance. Some high quality stuff.
Body is quite a bit smaller. I'd say P bodies are on the large side already. Because of the finish, size, and top curve it almost feels like a Warwick body. Lakeland is about 8.5lbs and the Serek is around 7.5lbs. I'll probably die if I ever strap on a 70s fender.
That's a very nice looking instrument. I appreciate makers who are going outside the classic P/J parameters although those are the forms which I currently own almost exclusively.
