Oh yeah, I've seen pictures of yours in another thread. Totally awesome. Blank board, rosewood or maple? I think it was rw?

Congrats on the bass. I had one very similar to it back in the late 70's. Lots of bottom, great tone, and presence in the mix to die for. We recorded one of our live shows back then, and I could hear every single note on the playback as clear as a bell, and we had a guitar, keyboard, drums, trumpet, and sax in the band. I eventually sold it to buy a computer. Wish I didn't <sniff>.

At least you have a 82 jazz and an E series precision! I have had good experiences with 82 fenders as well as E series. In fact, my other precision has an 82 neck on it (even though the serial points to 78/79) and I have two E series stratocaster necks.

  11. i love how those look, i'm probably gunna make a warmoth replica someday with a few changes (black block inlays!). judging by the grain though it's probably an ash body

It does seem to have ashlike grain at parts, it seems so foggy its hard to tell. But you are probably right. Either way its 8.5 pounds so I am happy.

    That's beautiful!

That's the way Fender did lefty logos in late 70's, starting in 1976 when they started putting the serial number on the headstock and changed the model name to a smaller font. In the 1968 - early-1976 period Fender used the larger "TV logo" font and that wouldn't fit comfortably on a lefty headstock, so for lefty instruments made in that period they left out the model name and used just the Fender logo, here's a picture of my lefty '75 P:
