    New Bass Day

Well I have wanted a stingray ever since I got rid of my last one due to its weight!

Well I ordered this sight unseen and wasn't certain what I was going to get. I at first was a little disappointed because though it was the color I wanted, I didn't want the roasted maple neck because I wanted the white maple! Well after setting it up and playing it i can see why all the fuss over roasted necks! This thing plays like a dream!

    Congrats.
But the string look a bit off align from pickups polepiece to neck until nut.
And also has nut slot cut problem.

Wasn't a big fan of the RM fretboard on my first special but it sure does look killer.
How did you spot this from those photos?

Must have been the angle I took the pic at. It's actually great

Nice. The neck looks sweet. My Ray and Sabre predate these roasted necks so I guess I need a new one.
Remember, every time a Ray is sold an angel gets its wings.

  8. First off, WANT. But I want the "Ash" color--trans black with trans pickguard and RM neck.

Second, regarding the string spacing, it *looks* like your A string is a little closer to your fret dots than your D string is. But that could be the angle--and actually, my MIM Fender jazz is the same way. Does not affect playability, only my OCD.

    But again, NICE. And WANT.

I wouldn't make any assumptions of the nut slots based on those photos, especially not with the angle here.

Yeah. That is probably the angle on the pic. Musicman and MM Sterling instruments tend to be set up from the factory very well and I think something like that wouldn't get past their QC. Even the $300 Sterling Ray's I've played have been very solid and easy to play. Congratulations!

The spacing is absolutely fine, the bass is beautiful. Ignore these crazy folks.

    Congrats on the new bass!
Roasted necks are the bomb, I put a Warmoth roasted neck on my 2014 USA P bass and it brought the bass to life and it has no dead spots.
Here's a tip, don't wax the neck or treat it with any chemicals or oils.
All you need a is green scotch brite pad to lightly go over it if it gets dirty or sticky.

I’ve always wondered about this. If a Ray is resold, does the same angel get additional wings? That would seem rather cumbersome after a while.

I’ve gone off topic, haven’t I? I’ll bring it back. That bass looks great. I love the roasted maple neck. Maybe one day I’ll delve into the active world and give one of those a whirl, but that day is not today.

No, don't be ridiculous. It's a different angel. I've been told it works for trades too.

Beautiful bass! I got my 1st MM last year with a roasted neck and it became my #1 very quickly! Play that beauty to death!
