    Finally,

After four years, I finally get to play the upright bass again. It’s not much, but it works for me. I used to not believe in love at first sight, but I now understand, and it’s a wonderful feeling.
I purchased the bass from The Violin Shop Tampa, and I knew from first sight it was the one.
Four years of searching the web.
Four years of trying tons of basses.
    Four years of saving.
Four years of just bass guitar.
    Finally over.

    Here is my bass

It’s a 2007 Hawkes laminated Upton Bass. Strung with gut strings.

    This is at the shop

After 4 years, I’m pretty rusty, I need some serious practice.
    One step at a time.

  2. Congratulations! I’m not a DB’er (though I wish I was), so I don't know much about that bass, but it looks great! I hope she serves you well.

Cool man - I have 2007 Hawkes Hybrid and it’s such a wonderful instrument. I’m on the opposite spectrum with Spiro Weichs - but it sure would be fun to try guys someday. Good luck with new axe.

Congratulations! I started my DB journey with the identical bass, and it served me well. Great bass!

Just bought and installed a fishman bp-100. I know it’s not the greatest, but I wanted to use my bass guitar pedals on my upright bass.
I’m so excited for this journey, I’m already starting to relearn Thumb position from Discover Double Bass and Chris Fitzgerald videos.
