Saw this in the local used gear store. Got it for a great price ($220) with the original gigbag. It has some flavor of 18v preamp....I just know it sounds awesome :) It is a great day when so much awesome can be had for such little coin!!

    PICS!!

I had one of the 4s; they like to play rough!

Here's the control cavity - the pickups are Bartolini's but other than that the only weird thing is that the battery connectors are different, one is solid
plastic the other is thin/cheap plastic.

If the pickups are Bartolinis, I would say you got a REALLY good deal. I am thinking that someone has replaced the electronics in your bass. The Bartolinis would definitely qualify as an upgrade from the Mighty Mite pickups it came with. That preamp is probably Bartolini NTMB preamp. There is a sticker on the side that says Bartolini and will tell you exactly what model. I can see the sticker in your third picture, but I can't read it.

The electronics are probably worth enough to justify the price you paid, but you got a bass too! There are about $350 worth of replacement electronics in that bass.

EDIT: I have read that the original pickups aren't bad at all, but the preamp is the limiting factor. Since the preamp is a copy of the Spector Haz labs preamp, I am a little surprised by this - a lot of guys put these Mighty Mite MM114 preamps in their Spectors. I wonder if there is some kind of incompatibility between the pickups and preamp that squashes the output level. Mine is very quiet, but I am thinking it is a fixable (and minor) issue.

^^ Thanks for the info - I'll check that sticker out to see what it is. PITA to get the cover off because the cavity cover screws are allen heads...tiny ones lol.

It's the NTBT-918 - yea, for $220 I got a really nice bass with good electronics. That combination almost never happens with me :)

For a bass that sold new for something like $369, threaded inserts are virtually unheard of.

You got upgraded screws, too. :) Mine are phillips.
