I've always wanted one of those Godlyke Diety 10's, but since finding one is pretty much impossible I figured that I'd try running down someone to build me something similar. Tom Clement was open to the task and around two months after we began bouncing ideas around it was delivered and began angering the neighbors. This thing is as fun as tequila shots with Lindsay Lohan, the doubled B is like thunder. Single piece mahogany body, 34" scale maple/wenge neck, bocote board, Lace Alumitone Bass Bars, all passive VVTT, a little under 10.5 pounds and well worth every ounce of it. Definitely unlike anything I've ever owned in my life, which I think is one of the reasons that trustworthy custom builders exist. Many thanks Tom, very well done.

  6. I'm very jealous...... that looks like a great bass. Two months to build...... wow.

Can you take a closer shot of the bridge? Would love to see it.

I was recently talking to Tom Konig of Konig Bassworx over here in Oz about a possible 8 string build, having played his 12 string (below) a while back and falling in lust with it..... unfortunately the price was way out of my budget. He mentioned that he was finally getting around to building a couple of 15 string beasts and would then be doing an 8 or 10 string. He designs and builds all his own hardware these days as well.

Wow! Incredible bass. I've been wondering what Tom has been up to as he didn't update his website for years...he loaned me one of his basses for a couple of gigs back in 2007 or so when he was looking for feedback from local players in Canberra. It was a fun little thing (with LEDs in the side markers!) and built with incredible attention to detail, but more of a modern sound than I tend to go for. I'm sure he could build just about anything though and that one right there shows it! That stop bar, seriously!

Happy to hear that you are enjoying the bass! Too bad shipping to Australia is so damn expensive. I have done it 2-3 times but normally the additional cost kills the build.
