NBD - Vintage Ibby

  1. I jumped over this gorgeous 1984 Roadstar II series RB950 in Marine sunburst.
I wasn't on the market for a new bass...just fooling around on the internet and...(I know, I know, that's what everybody says).
The guy who sold it too me was kind and friendly, the price was too good to leave it there, and I will turn 50 in a few days, so I got myself a present.
It has some scars, but I don't care too much for the finish on a 38 years old instrument.
It's in perfectly working condition. Not too heavy (compared to his relatives '81 RS924 and my '84 MC924), great neck, huge all passive tone.
    I'm happy!

 rationalizing? i get it! it's a great looking ax --- it goes well with your other axes, but i think this one's the star --- it's beautiful! happy birthday, and congratulations on your new instrument!

Nice! :) My 1st bass was a RB850, black from 1986. I bought it brand new with lawn mowing money! ( I thought it looked like Geddy's Wal bass in the Big Money video ;)) I still have it but had the frets removed and coated the fretboard in poly urethane. It's fretless MWAH city! :)

I used to own the exact same model/finish. I didn’t get along with the neck profile but everything else about it was killer. Enjoy!

I remember those, probably the first blueburst I was aware of. Ibanez makes terrific basses today, as then, but they don't build them like that. I see the one on the left and I instantly hear 'Boys Are Back' and 'The Cowboy Song' in the back of my head . . . .

I love the old Roadstar Super Strats that I've played. They feel amazing. If their bases are the same way, then you got a very special instrument. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday and great choice. I'm an active bass guy, but lately have really been drawn back to 80's passive "big block" pickups. All 3 of your basses are incredible.

  19. That bound body really sets it off IMO. Really stands out from the other two (no offense to the other two). Love the color/finish too.
