NBD! What color is this?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by MoeTown1986, Aug 9, 2018.

  1. Had a Fender 50th anniversary Precision bass I picked up a few months ago. No matter how much I played it, I couldn’t love it. So, I traded a fella locally for his American Standard Jazz. Serial number says 2008-2012. Can anyone tell me what color this is? Looks like Candy Apple Red to me. Strung it with Dunlop flats last night and it purrs! I already had 5 P basses (4 string) and 3 jazz basses (5 string), so it felt good adding a 4 string jazz to the arsenal.

  3. Not even a little copper. It’s very very red. Maybe it’s a bad pic.

I vote CAR - done right, it should look different from different angles, and that one does. ;) (Against the brown, it does look a bit copper-ish, but against the black, it's almost hot pink in spots!)

I'm no Fender color expert though, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

  5. That’s what I was thinking! I have a candy tangerine P bass and it looks different in every pic.

My CAR doesn’t look close to this in real life...it’s much darker.

  12. The original owner just replied and said he thinks it was Candy Cola? That sound right?

It looks like it could be the Mystic Red color they did a few years back.

It does look copperish, like my Kramer Focus 420S P-bass clone. dsc05891.jpg

Candy apple red. I have a P bass in that color. In darker settings it looks burgandy. In a bright setting it looks like a deeper version of fiesta red.

no endorsements yet...Are you listening Spector, DR, GK, Line6?
I am no expert but my guess would be Candy Cola.

Candy cola was one of Fender’s colors on the new ‘08 revision of basses. I would bet that’s the one.
