Well, I got it a few days back. Man, this thing is a monster. Absolutely fantastic. It sounds as good as it looks. I’ve had a chance to play it live a couple of times already and I’m more than happy with it. And for those who are into the technical pieces… Specs: Swamp Ash body AAAAA Buckeye Burl top Wenge fret board Six lamination taper core neck (Eastern rock maple + Padauk + Wenge) Custom wood matching pickup cover 35" scale 18mm spacing Nordstrand FatStacks pickups Aguilar OBP3 (18v) Pre amp
Can't tell from the pics, which layer in that neck is the Padauk? I'm guessing it's either the center stringer(s), sandwiched between two Wenge layers...or vice-versa? But it's rare to see new Padauk that's already such a deep brown color, so I can't really see which wood is which. Gorgeous bass!
Thanks! As per your question on the neck woods… Per Wyn, it’s a 2 outer rails of eastern rock maple, two padauk stripes and a wenge core. It has one of the sweetest feeling necks of any bass I’ve ever owned.
Thanks for the kind words. It’s such a gorgeous instrument. The woods… the craftsmanship… it’s definitely a wonderfully made bass.
That topwood is gorgeos. A really special piece! I'm sure it sounds great with those Nordstrands too.
Wow! C’mon man! You can’t post that pic and not explain the function of all the knobs. Looks amazing!
haha. Fair enough. Hopefully I am reciting this properly, but it’s master volume, neck PU, bridge PU, bass, mid, treble. I don’t have my hands on it this second, so I’m going from memory.
what a beauty, wow! i'm glad it plays and sounds "as good as it looks" --- must be a beast! --- congratulations on your new instrument!
