My lastest, and I think for-good switch from 4's to 5's... Got these 2 MIA Pro Fenders within the past month. Both have rock solid B strings (no dead notes, wolf tones, just rich, even volume from the lowest to highest notes) and excellent weights - 8.38lbs for the P and 8.95lbs for the J. I can't ask for more from passive basses.

    Fender 5's.

    Nice! Cool finishes.

    What years are they?

What did you pick them up for?

Awesome, I’m more of a Precision guy with 4s, but those jazz 5s look great!

Both are the newest Pro models so 2016-17.

Picked up the P for $1,399 and the J for $1,359. Both were new at the time and shipping was free.

Actually my desert island bass is my 4 string parts P bass - Road Worn body, all rosewood Warmoth neck and Delano pickups. Weight is only 7.95lbs. :)

That green is sweet, right along with Fender's "ocean turquoise blue".

    Congrats!! Couple beauties there!

I got the active American J5. Still not sold on the whole preamp situation. It has a higher output but so what? I wish it had knobs like my Mexican J4.

Most are now coming in in the 9-10.5lbs range so yes, finding one under 9 lbs is a special treat.
I think their preamps got better the past couple of years. Do they/ does yours have an active/ passive switch? That's always the best option.

It does have the switch.. the preamp cool but don't think it's really necessary.

Nice! I bought my P5 as a backup to my Roscoe Beck Signature 5. Until my Hammersmith came in the P5 was my #1.

    Those are both really nice!

I really like that P, great color and goes well with the maple.

  13. There's a nice pair, as they say. Should scratch your Fender fiver itch for a good long time.

The new Pro Series was an interesting gamble for Fender. It looks to me like R&D has been researching the internet for some of the most popular and common mods, and they incorporated them into the series. If those mods are your thing, this is a godsend. Fender factory-modded USA standards, way cool.

They are beautiful basses, if they play half as nice as they look I would be very happy. Congrats and enjoy.

Your natural Jazz looks beautiful, especially with the dot inlays.

Used to drool when I saw black blocks on a maple board. Now, after selling my VM J, I despise it and appreciate the simple design of dots.

I just got a 5 string p-bass pro. If you want a 5 string with a p-bass vibe, it is the way to go.

Everyone seems to like the green. I like the natural, looks just like my trusty old jazz. Both nice! I was always skeptical of whether a 5 string Fender would feel legit, but after just getting a 5 string jazz myself, I agree that if you want that jazz or precision vibe, it's the way to go.
