I’ve been a Fender fanboy for years. Ive never really been interested in anything but a Fender or Fender copy these days. But, I’ve always wanted a hollow or semi hollow bass for acoustic gigs, but never really ran across any to try out. I found this Epiphone Jack Casady for sale on FB Marketplace about 3 hours from me for $500. I offered the guy $450 and asked if he’d meet half way. I got it after work last night and took it straight to my Thursday night acoustic gig. I must say, this thing sounds awesome! I usually take my Custom Shop 59 P to my acoustic gigs. I didn’t miss it at all. This thing plays very well with an acoustic guitar. The only complaint I have is the setup the previous owner had on it. The action is way too high for my liking. When I get home today I’m gonna file the nut down and make some adjustments to make it play as well as it sounds. TI flats are also on the way.

Nice one. Mine has become my main axe since joining the herd.

I dunno if mine will be my main. But, it will most definitely be gigged.

If I come across a deal on one, it will be mine. Love those basses. Nice find!

Lovely! May I suggest to not file nut or change the setup until after the TI JF's are installed? The lower tension strings might just put everything in the right place for you.
I also had great luck with my JC by installing a "Mod Bar" onto the bridge. Totally opened up the tone and helped balance the bass better....plus some Hipshot Ultralites.
    Enjoy your Jack!

Was there any subsequent thinning of the herd?

I definitely waited. It’s all setup now and plays and sounds like butter. What’s a Mod Bar?

It was a steel rod with 4 hole drilled thru it. You put all four strings thru the holes, string up the bass and the bar rests in the claw of the 3-point bridge. Adds weight and resonance to those crap Gibson bridges.Got it here on TB somewhere. Brilliant and inexpensive.
Or Hipshot makes a drop in replacement.

2 5 string basses, realized I'm a four string player.

Hey, @PaperbackRyder , thanks for the suggestion! It looks much better and balances the bass better.
