View attachment 261066 Thanks to Jason at BassStringsOnline.com (by far the best place to get strings - I'm no salesman, just a satisfied customer!) that won't be a problem! I'll eventually upload some clips and better photos - I'm a few thousand miles away from my camera and my computer But yeah, very happy! Edit: dang, re-uploading pics now...
Congrats on the new bass! ...and yes, Welcome to Bass Strings Online - Your Custom Bass String Shop... is a great site and gets all of my business!
Then, sir, you must have an exquisite taste Thanks man, with the new strings it's rocking! I'll never buy from anywhere but Jason from now on, it would make no sense to go anywhere else! Hehehe that minty bass, still had the plastic on the pickguard back then too <drool> hahaha Tort's going to happen, period! Just gotta work out how/where to get one over here in England Any suggestions? I'll get some new photo's up soon, I'm just coming into my AS levels (exams at the end of junior year, really important!) so obviously revision comes first!
Here it is in the family (minus one that's HERE) shot: And then with it's Fender bro, my Jazz: Bit of a review here: Fit and finish 7/10 Everything is almost much perfect; fretwork is great, and set up out of the box was awesome. Neck is lovely as thin, the finish on it is neither too yellow, nor too sticky. However 1) the three pieces aren't matched well at all. Or rather, the first and second aren't matched to the third, as it is far darker. Also, the tuners are rather stiff. In addition, the fretboard was very dry out of the box. Lastly, the E string was extremely boomy, and that needed fixing with pickup height Electronics: 7/10 I heard that the electronics of this would either be perfect for me, or make me hate the bass. I'll start with the cons - the lack of blend knob for me is a killer, and one I'm thinking strongly of adding, as a stack on the volume knob. The pre-amp is only 2-band, which isn't as versatile as I'd want, but IT WORKS. Boost only, yes, however, with a little added on either dial, the changes are rather subtle, though you can go ridiculously to either side if you should so wish! The series/parallel switch is a good addition too, the change in sound is extremely noticeable. However, the change in volume is too, so flipping between the two is more of a studio arsenal, rather than live. It only took me 5 minutes or so to familiarise myself with the layout, which is a plus, as it looks confusing to begin with! Pickups are fantastic, with everything normal and in passive mode it's that punchy jazz bass sound, with that 70's-position snarl. Lovely. Hardware: 8/10 Flawless apart from the said problem with the stiff tuners. Playability: 10/10 It's like the third arm I never had! Even with rounds (I'm normally a flats user) it's extremely comfortable, NEGLIGIBLE neck dive! Honestly, it's not an issue, and I play with a synthetic, slidey strap. Sound: 10/10 Okay, so this was the only 70's position J style I'd ever owned, and when I plugged it in in my music room, it sounded exceptionally nasally. Very defined, but wow, nasal whine. I turned on the pre-amp, hoping to alleviate this, smooth it out, but it only got worse! Thoroughly disheartened, I took it to our next band practice, with another my Jazz too, as I assumed the Jag would sound just as bad as it had the night before. Once in the band setting however, it was a WHOLE different story, the Jag absolutely owned the mix! Lesson well learnt, this thing kicks ass! Overall: 8/10 I'll put this simply, if it got stolen, I'd buy it again.
