New Bass Restoration Project! Just ‘won’ this MIM P body (ebay)- gonna be my (next) Sonic Blue bass build... stay tuned... Have an MIM neck- somewhere (not the one on pic- but similar) {} {} {} {} {} {} Following these two... {} {}
Gonna go with a Seymour Duncan Hot pu & have 3 pickguards comin... will see which one looks the best {} {}
Did you strip it first or just rough it up and then go over the old paint? I tried stripping an MiM once. When I started the heat gun wouldn't work, so I tried sanding it a bit and found that it had been repainted 3 times! It was never coming off. 3 layers of solid thick urethane plus sanding sealer and primer.
Nice Job. I need buy up some pieces and do this. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up picking up the neck and body for?
yep, that's the ticket! nice work on a cool project --- it's fun to see the progress you're making. i know it's gonna be killer!
Ugh, I wish I was this good. I want to spray shell pink over my polyurethane sunburst and sand it down till the sunburst is visible. {}
Welp- I paid about $150.00 for the body- it’s a ‘94 ‘Squier Series Fender’ (poplar). I wanted something light- so I may have overpaid a bit... got the neck for about $125.00. I’ve done a few of these... certainly have more $$ into it than if were to buy off the shelf- but- have something unique + ‘fits me’!
So If I wanted to do, all I would need is a primer and my choice of color right? Because I'm not interested in a glossy finish. I've done previous search on colors and found that stewmac doesn't have a lot of color option; at least to what I've discovered. Gracey has about 40 different colors.
