Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Dr Stankface, Aug 27, 2012.

  1. Thank Jebus college football is here! Now I have perfectly logical reason for not mowing the lawn. :D Well, my picks of the week...

    South Carolina over Vandy
    Tennessee over NC State

    Auburn 28
    Clemson 20

We're back gentlemen! May the trash talk begin.

Bucky has Northern Iowa. I think Montee runs for 250 and 4 scores in the first half and then sits the rest of the game. Wake me up when the B1G 10 schedule starts.

  8. I have Clemson over Auburn, MSU over BSU, SC over Vandy and Alabama over Michigan.

  9. Utah at home over Northern Colorado by 35.

  10. I have come to embrace my buddy's viewpoint that one's "team" should be their alma mater. so, as of now, I'm no longer a Tennessee fan, I'm an Ohio University Bobcat fan. I'll still watch all the big games, but I'm going to hitch my wagon of fandom to the mighty Bobcats and their MAC dominance.

  11. and yes, I agree that Bama will pummel UM.

As a tOSU alumnus and fan, I admire you for going back to the Bobcats. i grew up about 25 miles from Athens, so they're my dark-horse team.

    Go Bucks!

  14. Yeah, they're kind of a "never gonna win the National Championship" team, but it's still fun to root for them.

In this day and age most teams fall into that category. I pretty don't care at all about anything outside of conference. A successful year to me is a Big Ten championship and a Rose Bowl. the BCS system is terribly flawed and there's no real way to fix it without adding a half dozen games in a playoff system. Who cares anyways. College Football is more regional anyways as you'll note in this very thread where no one seems to have an opinion on a week one game out of conference.

I'm excited to see it, and I think Michigan has a chance if they play really well... but if I was putting money on it, I take Alabama at the +11 it was going at.

Agreed. Bama should be able to pull it out on paper but guys like Robinson can defy whats on paper if he isnt contained. Fortunately thats something the Bama D excels at. Other than the most strident fans, most folks are expecting a solid game from Michigan.

As an OU alumnus I will definitely root for the Sooners, but now that A&M is in the SEC I can start rooting for them again. My dad's an Aggie so growing up I was an A&M fan and would have gone there had they given me a better scholarship than OU did. Looking for an Aggie ring a la MBA, though.
