Neck Blank sizes

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by GrooveWarrior, Jun 20, 2005.

  1. Can anyone tell me what dimensions I should get in a neck blank for the following:

    Bolt-on 34" scale 4 string bass.
    Neck-through 34" scale 4 string bass.
    Bolt-on 25" scale guitar.
    Neck-through 25" scale guitar.

    Thanks.

    It all depends.....
One piece necks or laminated? What kind of string-spacing? Neck width? Big or small headstock... glued on headstock etc.....
Decisions, decisions, but you've got to remember it's these things that matter and make the character of the bass(in visual and sound).
Or maybe you're just looking for a template.... :meh:

Maybe you should post some more details/pictures of your idea/design/guiding bass. :smug:

  3. I am really just looking for a general idea of what size blanks to order. I don't see where it would matter if they were one piece or a laminate. 4 string bass with standard string spacing. 6 string guitar with standard string spacing. I would be gluing on the headstock wings in each case.
