It's actually quite simple - begin with 1000 grit sandpaper and wetsand the entire area you want glossy. Then move to 1500 or 2000 and repeat the task, again wetsanding. Then, using a good paper towel and some Turtle Wax polishing compound, spread the compound out and rub it out onto the neck hard in a small area until nearly dry. Then wipe off the residue. You'll see the shine really pick up. Once you get the hang of your own technique continue until done. Then use a furniture PASTE wax to finish it off. You'll really like the results.
