neck pocket depth

  1. i've notice that i have had to shim the necks on my basses because on the essex i cant get the saddles down low enough to get good action and same witht the washburn.

    what would be the best thickness of a small wooden plate to place in the neck pocket?
     
  2. It depends on how low you want your action to be. I'd say 1 - 4 mm. It really doesn't take much.
