neck-thru basses

    hi im getting a neckthru bass soon and im wondering if its possible to do the lil neck bend thingy that billy sheehan uses.

    Are you refering to scalloped frets or something else? If you mean scalloped frets, you can do that on any bass. Better to get a pro to do it though, a bad scallop can be a very costly repair.

    Yeah it is. It's just easier on a bolt on bass.

    oh sorry you guys, thats not what im talking about. when billy plays he usually does a neck bending thing to give it the same effect as if someone were using a whammy bar. im wondering if that is possible to do a neckthru bass.

    probably, but i wouldnt recommend it.....
    a warped neck on a bolt on is easier to fix than on a neck thru : P
  8. One of the benefits of a neck-thru for me is that it doesn't do this as easily

    ...I have an Aria Pro that you can literally stop the notes on by bending the neck, or more accurately, the neck joint where it bolts on... ugly.
