Been checking out lots of different music stores, thinking about picking up another bass. The only problem is, if the neck isnt similar (fairly wide and flat) to my 55-02, then I dont feel comfortable on it. Is there anything else out there that has a neck somewhat similar to a Lakland 5er? Im thinking a $2000 cap, new or used. Thank you very much kind sirs and madams, Dave
Get lucky on a used 55-94? I've got a 55-01 (I think the neck is very similar if not the same as the 02), and a Skyline JO5. The necks are totally different. The JO definately has more meat to it. But both to me are very fast.
Thats what I was thinking, but Im thinking I may want something a hair more aggressive. And I just had a revelation; about how much would it run to have the Seymour Duncan pre and pickups installed? I hear that will give you a bit more aggression. Note: I know an SR5 would do the aggressive thing well, but I dont need quite that much aggressiveness, and Im also not fond of their necks, which is very important when it comes to me deciding on a bass. Thanks Dave
The neck on my Benavente '51 PJ5 is real close to my Laklands, except of course it is 34" scale. It is a little slimmer front to back though, and a real joy to play.
