OK, I am totally confused about necks. I have both a Peavey Millennium & 89 Foundation with the jazz type necks & love them. I have a 83 Fury & 87 Patriot with very wide necks & hate them. I always assumed that the Fury & Patriot necks were considered precision type necks because of the width & that is why I always thought that even though I love the tone of a Pbass I would not like the neck width of one. Wednesday I found a 07 Squier Pbass for $95 and couldn't believe how much narrower the neck was compared to the Fury & Patriot. The Squier neck is only slightly wider than my Foundation

  2. Is the Squier a factory "modified" model?

Imo neck depth and contour as well as fretboard radius are playing a role here, have you actually measured the width at the nut between the fury/patriot and the p?

My peavey fury has a thin neck.
    Very thin.
My taste in necks go either very thin 1.5 or very big 1.75 not a fan of anything in between.
    Just me though

Yes. Both the Fury & Patriot are 1 and 3/8 and the Squire is 1 and 1/2

If that's the case then the peaveys and the squier are both less wide than a standard p bass, which is traditionally 1 and 3/4" or 1 and 5/8" at the nut.
